SLIPKNOT announce ‘Day Of The Gusano’ documentary cinema release

SLIPKNOT.  A genuine sonic phenomenon, a nine-piece force of nature and one of heavy music’s most important, recognizable, uncompromising and creatively ingenious bands.

Yet to their millions of fans across the world, affectionately known as ‘maggots’, SLIPKNOT aren’t just a group, they’re also a counterculture and a way of life. Those fans play an important role in a new documentary brought to you by MusicScreen, entitled ‘Day of The Gusano’.  The 90 minute documentary is to be premiered on more than a thousand screens across the world as a ‘one night only’ cinematic spectacle on 6th September 2017.

Directed by SLIPKNOT’s own M.Shawn Crahan, aka ‘Clown’, ‘Day of The Gusano’ documents the Iowa band’s first ever visit to the country in December 2015 and features exclusive interviews with SLIPKNOT’s members talking about the importance of their fanbase and the band’s long awaited first ever show in Mexico City.  Confirmed cities and ticketing for the screenings will be announced in July.  Sign up to receive dates and details at http://dayofthegusano.com.

Talking about the movie, Clown tells us, “SLIPKNOT still has dreams for itself.  Finally playing Mexico was one of them.  It’s been a surreal life of rock and roll for SLIPKNOT and the fact that the dreams still go on for us is simply incredible. Thank you.”  Guitarist Jim Root continues, “We had such a great time at Knotfest Mexico… Not only with all the friends and bands that were there, but with the fans and the crowd we had to document it with.  Now we get to share it with the world.”

‘Day of the Gusano’ also chronicles the rabid devotion of the Mexican maggots and sees the band hearing personal, emotive stories from some of their fans, all interspersed with footage from SLIPKNOT’s incendiary live show at the inaugural KNOTFEST Mexico.  The film features a full surround soundtrack, so you’ll not only hear the show, but you’ll ‘feel’ it as if you were actually there.

To tie in with the movie announcement, SLIPKNOT also launch their #AskSlipknot campaign.  Fans are asked to submit their questions to the band on either Facebook or Twitter, using the hashtag, #AskSlipknot, and a selection will be chosen by the band to answer as part of the cinematic screening event.  Submit your questions before 13th June in order to be in with a chance of getting your question included.

Today, SLIPKNOT stand alongside musical institutions like Metallica and Iron Maiden, as one of a select few bands whose legacy is assured within the pantheon of the elite.  The band emerged at the back end of the 20th Century from America’s midwestern town of Des Moines, IA and quickly established themselves as the most enigmatic, provocative and aggressive music collective of the modern era.  1999’s eponymous debut album is widely regarded as a modern day classic and was honoured by Metal Hammer magazine as the ‘Best Debut of the Last 25 Years.’  The release quickly racked up double RIAA platinum certification in the US, with many of SLIPKNOT’s subsequent releases achieving platinum status both in the US and across the globe.  To date, the band have been nominated for 10 Grammy Awards (winning in 2006 for ‘Before I Forget’), as well as scoring 13 Platinum and 44 Gold record certifications around the world, 17 million unit sales and over 1 billion YouTube views to date.  SLIPKNOT’s fanbase is as unwavering as it is ubiquitous – the band’s most recent studio album, 2014’s ‘.5: The Gray Chapter’ debuted Top 5 in the Official Album Charts of 19 countries around the world, including the US (#1), UK (#2), Japan (#1), Australia (#1), Russia (#1) & Germany (#2).

KNOTFEST is SLIPKNOT’s own self-curated, destination festival brand, currently held in three international locations; the US, Japan and Mexico.  Designed as an immersive, unforgettable, ‘dark carnival experience’, the event invites you into SLIPKNOT’s apocalyptic underworld where stunning visuals, firebreathers and nightmarish creatures on stilts set the stage for an intoxicating and memorable weekend of live music.  KNOTFEST’s plans for 2017 are to be announced in due course.

Dropkick Murphys Release Video For “Until The Next Time”; From Boston To Berkeley U.S. Tour With Rancid Launches July 27

In the midst of European festivals and headlining shows, Dropkick Murphys have released a video for “Until The Next Time,” from their 11 Short Stories Of Pain & Glory album.

Dropkick Murphys’ Ken Casey explains, “The music video for ‘Until The Next Time’ was directed by our longtime friend and amazing photographer Gregory Nolan during our 11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory Tour in both Europe and the U.S. This song is about our relationship with YOU, the best fans on the planet. It’s about the memories and the great friends we’ve made along the way…about the pleasure of coming to so many cities that we feel we can almost call home, and the bittersweet moments of having to say goodbye and move on to the next town every night.”

According to drummer Matt Kelly, “Until The Next Time” is “a song about having to put the good times on hold temporarily. We were glad to come, so sad to go, so while we’re here we’ll have us a real good time! See you out on the ice!”

Gregory Nolan, tour videographer and director of the video said, “There are two kinds of shots I love with the Dropkicks: hijinks between band members and moments of connection between the band and fans. The awesome thing about putting together this music video is that I got to shape the story that puts these relationships at the center, with music as the method of connection. It’s the perfect song to celebrate the good times, and to get the sense that the friendships we share will always come back around again.”

Dropkick MurphysAl Barr, Tim Brennan, Ken Casey, Jeff DaRosa, Matt Kelly, James Lynch—return to the U.S. in July for their co-headlining From Boston To Berkeley Tour with Rancid. The month-long trek kicks off July 27 in Bangor, ME and wraps August 26 at the It’s Not Dead festival in San Bernardino, CA, near Los Angeles. Each night of the tour will culminate with Rancid and Dropkick Murphys on stage together for a joint encore.

The Bouncing Souls and Jake Burns open the July 27 – August 9 shows and The Selecter and Kevin Seconds open from August 11 – 26.

Tickets are on sale now at www.DropkickMurphys.com.

Rancid and Dropkick Murphys have a long and important history together. Back in 1997, Rancid’s Lars Frederiksen came across a copy of Dropkick Murphys’ original EP at a friend’s house. He turned it over to his bandmate and Hellcat Records president Tim Armstrong, who quickly snatched up the band for his new label.

Dropkick Murphys are touring in support of their 11 Short Stories Of Pain & Glory album, released through the band’s own Born & Bred Records earlier this year. The album debuted at #8 on the Billboard Top 200 and was the #1 independently released album. There’s a feeling of purpose throughout the album, influenced by the band’s work with The Claddagh Fund, a charity the band established in 2009 to help support addiction recovery as well as children’s and veterans’ organizations. Dropkick Murphys are hands-on in raising funds, mentoring, and lending a helping hand with veterans, youth sports, and drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Many of the songs reflect these experiences, and the band’s sadness, anger and dismay at the opiate epidemic ravaging the country – in particular, Boston and New England — and also their feeling of pride and optimism at the sight of those who have turned their lives around. Dropkick Murphys have become ambassadors for their city. In Boston, it seems like everybody knows someone connected to the band whether by blood, friendship, or the time they shared a brew at a Bruins game. They’ve built a legacy that does Beantown proud.

Papa Roach – Crooked Teeth Review

New shit from Papa Roach has me thinking, this is the comeback of the year…..

Before I get all into the PSA (public service announcement), I’m gonna throw my 2 cents in. First I was never a really big fan of Papa Roach, sure they had a few catching hits in the early 2000’s but like I said. Just not my cup of tea. Now before you all chew my fucking head off, I wanna let you know I just listened to the whole album and I’m telling straight faced, this shit is fire! I did not receive the last album F.E.A.R and frankly even though I have been covering some of SoCal’s biggest events in this genre…… I had no fucking clue they were back!

With that being said, this is the time to make the comeback of the century. Bands like Pennywise, The Offspring and so many more are back on the touring circuit and killing it right now, making it a perfect time for Papa Roach to be releasing new material and touring. Even though Eleven Seven Music sent me the video for “Help” (video below), my favorite track has got to be “Born for Greatness.”

Do I recommend you buy this album, yes I do. More importantly though I would suggest you get out of your fucking house and go see them live. I know I will be front and center when they hit the SoCal area, so that we can cover it for FRONT Mag!

PAPA ROACH ANNOUNCE THE RELEASE OF THEIR NINTH STUDIO ALBUM
“CROOKED TEETH” OUT MAY 19
ALBUM PRE-ORDER IS AVAILABLE NOW!
SKYLAR GREY & MACHINE GUN KELLY GUEST ON ALBUM

Papa Roach announce the May 19th release of their ninth-studio album, “Crooked Teeth” via Eleven Seven Music. The band has already given fans of taste of album with the November release of the title track (listen HERE) and the explosive new single “Help,” (listen HERE) both of which will be instantly available to those who pre-order the album on iTunes (Standard or Deluxe) TODAY! Crooked Teeth will be available digitally and physically, as a standard (10 tracks) and deluxe (10 tracks + 3 brand new tracks + 16 Live tracks Live at the Fillmore Detroit) editions (see details below).

“Help” burst on to the radio waves and streaming services earlier this month by debuting as #1 Most Added at Active Rock and is currently #6 with 4 million streams. The band previously released the first their first new music at the end of 2016 with the release of “Crooked Teeth,” which boasts ‘old school’ Papa Roach attitude, paired with an 808 bass drop into a metal breakdown.”

Written and recorded in a cramped North Hollywood studio, Crooked Teeth was produced by first timers Nicholas “RAS” Furlong and Colin Brittain, with the exception of “Born for Greatness,” which saw the band collaborate with writer/producer Jason Evigan (Jason Derulo, Demi Lovato, Zedd, Maroon 5) for this positive, pulsating anthem. Furlong and Brittain, who grew up listening to Papa Roach, inspired the band to revisit some of the traits that personally endeared the band to them, most notably Shaddix’s remarkable rapping technique and the bands intense live energy.

“The first time we met up with RAS and Colin, they said that [2000’s] Infest was on constant rotation when they were growing up and they wanted to bring back some of that fire,” says Shaddix. Adds Furlong, “The whole idea was to take the classic elements of Papa Roach that everyone loved and revamp them into a modern version of the sound through the creative process, and we ended up with a bold, courageous and more adventurous version of Papa Roach.”

The Furlong/Brittain production team worked to bring in elements of music from different genres and parts of the world, and pockets of rhythm people associate more with rap or reggae, while still staying true to Papa Roach’s sound. “The people who have wanted to hear me rap for years are gonna love some of the viciousness on this record,” Shaddix
proclaims.

From the instantly infectious nature of the title track to the atmospheric sheen of the moody ballad “Periscope” (featuring Skylar Grey) and the acoustic/ hip-hop rock mashup of “Sunrise Trailer Park” (featuring Machine Gun Kelly adding a verse to Shaddix’ rap) “Crooked Teeth” displays the various sides of Papa Roach and illustrates why they’ve managed to remain relevant while other musical trends ebb and flow. “We didn’t go into this album with the intention of trying to write radio singles,” guitarist Jerry Horton explains. “This collection of songs was really about bookending everything that we’ve done prior to this album and reintroducing Papa Roach to people who didn’t realize the depth that we have,” says drummer Tony Palermo.

In many ways making “Crooked Teeth” reminded Shaddix of the band’s earliest days, well before they sold millions of albums and became a household name. “When we were in the rehearsal space I wasn’t thinking about who I needed to impress, I was thinking about how much I love making music with the guys in this band.” “It [the album] feels honest and pure and that’s all we could hope for,” adds bassist Tobin Esperance. The band is set to hit the road throughout the year, kicking off with a tour of Canada and North America, with more shows to be announced soon! See the current tour dates below.
